Oxygreen Foundation is a registered Section-8 not-for-profit organization in India dedicated to restoring ecological balance, reclaiming degraded lands, and building local climate resilience. Founded by environmentalist Sandeep Chahal, our foundation operates with a core belief that tree plantation must go hand-in-hand with scientific rigor and community empowerment.
Our Genesis & Vision
As India undergoes rapid urbanization, the country faces critical ecological challenges: severe air pollution, expanding urban heat islands, depleting ground water reserves, and loss of native biodiversity. In response, Oxygreen Foundation was established with the vision to construct self-sustaining green habitats.
Under the visionary leadership of Sandeep Chahal, the foundation has grown from a local tree planting cohort into a structured environmental movement. Over the years, we have planted thousands of trees across various regions in India, transforming vacant landscapes, highway corridors, school grounds, and corporate parks into lush, carbon-absorbing bio-shields.
Scientific & Sustainable Reforestation
Unlike conventional tree-planting campaigns that focus on sheer quantity with little regard for survival rates, Oxygreen Foundation prioritizes long-term ecological impact:
- Native Species Only: We exclusively plant indigenous trees (such as Neem, Peepal, Jamun, Banyan, and Oak) that are suited to local soil types, require less water, and support native bird and insect life.
- The Miyawaki Method: In dense urban areas, we implement Miyawaki micro-forests. By planting trees closely together, they compete for sunlight and grow up to 10 times faster, forming self-sufficient mini-forests in just three years.
- Committed Aftercare: Every planting site undergoes continuous monitoring, weeding, and organic composting for 3 years to ensure a survival rate of 80% to 92%.
Transparency & Integrity
To build absolute trust with our supporters and partners, we operate under strict transparency guidelines:
- Direct Field Action: At least 85% of all funds collected go directly into procurement of saplings, soil preparation, planting drives, and long-term tree maintenance.
- Geo-tagged Proof: Every donor receives a customized e-certificate featuring the exact coordinates, plantation date, and species information of the trees planted in their name.
- Compliance & Exemptions: Contributions made to Oxygreen Foundation are tax-exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, allowing individuals and corporates to support our cause while optimizing their tax contributions.
